Books for the Fall & the Holidays!
Whether through my whimsical children's picture books or my more serious writings for teens and adults, I hope to raise the understanding of individuals living with learning, behavioral and mental health differences. I truly believe that by listening to one anothers' stories, we can create a kinder, more loving world.

So many people have helped me on this journey. I'd particularly like to thank my husband, Ron, my "chief encourager" who came up with "Li'l Hedgehog Publishing", and two of my artist kiddos - Christopher, who designed my logo, and Sara who gave artistic advice along the way. You are the best!
I never thought I'd be writing children's picture books - and yet, here I am! I love the creative process - my characters and ideas come to me when I am in my "zen" moments – running on trails and country roads when I am least expecting them to make an appearance. There is something about the solitude of a beautiful long run that allows my mind to clear and the characters to present themselves. A recreational runner who had completed a large number of road races over the years, I turned to marathoning when my youngest child left home for college - and I've never looked back.
I have always loved children - babysitting at a young age, teaching and then serving as a school administrator, raising four of my own children, and now volunteering as a CASA with children in the foster care system. Children are children - and despite the way they may approach life, what they are all craving is love, acceptance and structure. I like to think that I've been able to provide a bit of that to the many children I’ve had the honor and pleasure to meet in my life.
Professionally, I hold my Bachelors' Degree in Psychology, my Masters' Degree in Special Education, and multiple teaching and administrative credentials. I am now mostly retired from my former professional life, other than coaching some amazing new administrators early in their careers, and I am finding the gift of time to be a wonderful experience that allows me to explore new things: writing of books, world travel, raising of honeybees, and competing in world marathons among them! I hope you'll enjoy my writing.

Meet Maddy ~ an adventuresome child who simply must explore the world! Not to worry - Maddy's little dog is always on the scene to keep Maddy safe. Maddy explores the gardens, fields and nearby woods looking for a hedgehog to hug, as Nana knowingly observes.
Maddy's adventures continue. This time in settings involving ponds, streams, rivers and the ocean as Maddy is determined to kiss a fish. What are the clues on the final page that show that Nana knows what Maddy has been up to? A fun read for the family.
The final book in the original Never Series, Maddy is determined to pet a penguin, but there are no penguins to be found! Does that deter Maddy? Of course not! Maddy is full of ideas as to how to meet a penguin to pet. Enjoy this final book in the original Never Series before exploring more Never Books.
Another Never Series book, but not part of the original three. This story takes a new turn as it is written in rhyming verse and features three children exploring the area of Mammoth Lakes, California, while learning a bit about the history of the area and the Woolly Mammoths themselves. The underlying theme is one of valuing, exploring, and caring for our beautiful Earth. A fun read for all ages.
Books for all ages that emphasize the importance of valuing the differences in others while coming to understand mental health challenges.

Her grandchildren learn to love her just as she is, and eventually come to realize that she actually has a lot more to offer than they originally realized. A fun read with an underlying message of accepting others just as they are. A whimsically illustrated picture book told in rhyming verse, written for children ages 3 - 10, and their families.
